Margaret Tafoya Large Avanyu Black Pottery jar.
Hand coiled native clay is stone burnished, deep carved Avanyu, pit fired to black.
11" tall by 12" diameter. Although unsigned, we have documentation to support the attribution.
Letter from noted authority on pottery Richard Spivey writes it is hers.
Also, compare to the photos in Mary Ellen and Lawrence Blair's book "Margaret Tafoya".
Circa 1940s-1960s, very good sound condition, light firing area as pictured.

Three strands of 51 birds and 2 wolves carved by the Zuni Master Leekya Deyuse, 1889-1966.
A mix of pedestal birds and flat ones are turquoise, coral, jet, shell and red abalone.
Fine olivella shell heishi is 24", with hook and eye closure, drop length is 12 1/2" inches.
In the style of his 1930s era carving, from the daughter of a collector.
Just restrung on bead cord.
